Black Mountain Volunteer Firefighters are an integral part of the Black Mountain Fire Department. While we serve as  volunteer firefighters and EMTs with the Fire Department, we are also a non profit organization that exists to support the Fire Department and enable them to better fulfill their mission!  We are consistently raising funds to help provide our volunteers with the protective equipment, gear and training they need to serve this community

Volunteers can help in many ways. When not operating at emergencies, we are always busy planning, servicing equipment, training and finding ways that we can improve our service. You may have a special skill that we can use!

Volunteer firefighters receive the same training as the full time personnel. We provide your training, firefighting equipment and uniforms at no cost to you! Training and certifications include medical training, firefighting skills, and rescue techniques. Volunteers receive eight dollars per call as a nominal reimbursement for the costs of volunteering. It may simply help cover your gas for responses.

Serving as a Firefighter is a stressful & dangerous job and most people would never consider it, but the rewards are incredible. You will be a part of saving someone else's life and their property as you make a difference in the Black Mountain area. Interested in applying to be a Volunteer Firefighter?

• Minimum 18 years of age

• Have reliable transportation & a valid Driver's License

• Must have lived in our district for 18 months

• Must be a U.S. Citizen

• Thorough criminal background check is conducted.
